Today’s pilgrimage site is the town of Nazareth. This is where Jesus grew up. This is where his humanity seems most evident in the normal ways – being a brother, son, going to school, playing. But today we look not just to Jesus, but to Mary for inspiration. For it was here in Nazareth, when confronted by the angel, that Mary made a choice to be faithful.

Read Luke 1:26-38

Do you have such trust in the goodness and mercy of God as to say, “Here I am! Let it be done unto me as you have said.”? God’s plans seem, at times, to hinge upon a faithful decision made by an ordinary girl who was afraid and uncertain, but who knew she could trust God. What has God asked of you? How did you respond? Mary could have made every excuse and who would blame her! But she said, “Here I am…” Can you say those words and truly mean them?

As you pray today, pray for the courage to be completely open to the will and purpose of God, no matter what that might bring.
