Today we journey out on the Sea of Galilee. Yesterday we remembered the Christ who is the servant. Today we remember the Christ who comes with power to calm the storm.

Read Matthew 8:23-27

What storms are raging in your life? Family problems? Problems at work? Maybe you are out of work or a relationship seems out of your control. Perhaps you are someone you love is experiencing a health crisis. There are some serious storms we face in life. They can be slow building, or perhaps they sweep over us all of the sudden. But either way, they hit us with the force of a hurricane. And in these times we need the Christ who calms the storm. Following Christ is no cure for pain. As a matter of fact, Jesus often admitted that following him would bring pain. But in this we can rest assured – nothing can rip us from his hand. The fear you feel, the pain you experience, is not a symptom of Jesus abandoning you. When every other foundation you build your life on is gone, the Christ who calms the winds will still be your rock. And nothing can overcome him – not even death itself.

As you pray, pray for peace as you are firmly kept in the hands of the Lord whose love knows no bounds.
