Today we will travel to the Galilean fish town on Capernaum. As we consider this pilgrimage site we remember that it was here that Jesus called the first disciples. Common men with no special reputation that we know of. And as they went about their day, just a day like any other, suddenly Jesus calls out to them and they are faced with one of life’s scariest choices: stay with the familiar or answer a call to the unfamiliar. Peter, Andrew, James, and John all heard the call, set aside the fear and followed Christ.

Where, in your life, are you refusing to answer Christ’s call to follow? What fear holds you back? What would life look like if you answered Christ’s call? Are you where God wants you to be?

As you pray, pray for open ears and an open heart to truly hear again the call of Christ to, “Come follow me!”
