What makes a sermon prophetic?  It could be the timing, or the subject of the sermon.  It could be the demand the sermon places on the hearer to DO something.  In this case I chose Jacqui's sermon as prophetic because it pits the ideals we are to strive towards as people under the Reign of God, over and against popular American Christianity or American "Empire" rules.  Not only is she explaining what Christ said and did, she is doing so in a way that convicts our own secular and religious systems.  That is why I think it is a prophetic sermon.

Would you classify this sermon as prophetic?  Would it have been more effective had the provocative language of empire been tempered or does that make her point stronger?  What are we called to do or think as a result of this sermon?
