We support several local ministries in Kenosha including the Shalom Center through serving at the soup kitchen the 1st Tuesday of each month, a food collection the 1st Sunday of each month for the food pantry, and a budget amount given to support their programs; WoMen and Children's Horizons, Kenosha Jail Chaplaincy, and Kenosha school children through a mitten barrel drive each winter. We also support Intervarsity Christian Fellowship on the UW Parkside and Carthage College campuses.
Through several fund raising events throughout the year the church supports many ministries such as UNICEF and Heifer International. Through hands-on mission projects we also support Habitat for Humanity in Milwaukee.
Through the Presbyterian Church Mission Support we support the work of Nadia Ayoub as she works with orphans and families in Tajikistan. In January 2005 the session of First Presbyterian Church responded to a request from our Presbyterian mission partner in Tajikistan, Nadia Ayoub, to fund a dayschool project like the one she began in Dushanbe last year. The program has been such a success that the House of Prayer for All Nations, the local church in Tajikistan, asked her to start another program in the Northern city of Isfara. The program allows children who would otherwise be left to learn life's lessons in the streets, orphans, children of prisoners, etc. the chance to learn in a safe environment and receive healthy meals each day. The kids study English, Tajik, and Russian, math, Christian ethics and the Bible. We are very pleased to be partnering with Nadia and the Tajik people and pray that God uses our gifts for the furthering of the Kingdom of God.

The church employs a parish nurse, Karen Sorenson, who oversees health ministries for the church. Look for Karen's column in each month's Tower Topics and check the bulletin for upcoming events.
Prayer Shawls are knitted or crocheted with the prayers of the knitter to surround the recipient in prayers that can be both seen and felt. The blessing of the Prayer Shawl provides healing
and comfort to the sick, the lonely and the elderly, or shares in
the accomplishment of the graduate, newlywed, and newborn.
The prayer shawl ministry provides an opportunity for knitters/crocheters to reach out in prayer and concern to others, some of whom they know well and others they will never meet.
The Prayer Shawl group meets the last Wednesday of the month from 10:30 to 11:30am. And the last Friday of the month (during Project Night) from 6:30-7:30. For more information, contact Pat Meinhardt.
The Fireside Friends normally meets the second Tuesday of each month for a brief program and fellowship. Check the monthly calendar for information on the group's next meeting or, contact Lee West for more information.
The Way method of study asks for the group to hear the same Scripture passage a number of times, each time followed by silence as each person reflects on a question about how the passage touches their lives, and then each is given the opportunity to share while each other person in the group can only listen with no response. The sessions are opened with each member discussing the state of his/her prayer life in the past week and ends with members praying for each
other.
Contact Lydia Spottswood for additional information.
The Men's Group meets in regular intervals throughout the year. The group provides the opportunity to connect with other men in our church community. Contact Brad Dickow for more information.
The various church
committees help to support the mission/ministries of the church.
These committees normally meet on the last Monday of each month.
